Hello TBS Family and Friends,
Spring is finally here! This year has certainly been a paradoxical one. On the one hand, we were forced into isolation from the larger community, but on the other hand we became more engaged with one another. Don’t you find yourself asking, “how are you”, more often? Don’t you also wish acquaintances “good health and safety” more today than you have in the past? Time was our friend in 2020, as it afforded us the opportunity to reflect on the importance of being a good family member, friend and neighbor.
As we look back on this year, through all of the obstacles that came before us, I believe that Temple Beth Sholom has come out on the stronger side of this, with help from Rabbi Leiken, Cantor Lebovitz and so many of you, our congregants. Just think about the modifications that we all acclimated to seamlessly: Virtual shivas, online services, pods, social distancing, masks, COVID forms, Zoom meetings, online programming, shopping brigades, congregational phone call check-in teams, etc. It’s been quite a learning experience and journey. I propose that we keep the best of it and let it become a part of “what we do” at TBS.
The Erev Passover begins on Saturday. We will be asking ourselves, “Why is this night different from all other nights?” Maybe the better question is, “How was this past year different from all other years?” We all know our individual experiences have varied. We’ve had much sorrow throughout our community with the passing of family/friends. Some of our members had COVID, while some managed to avoid the virus. A number of people experienced deep loneliness, while others experienced more together-time. But regardless of our individual realities...one thing was constant...TBS. The Temple Beth Sholom community was here for you and you were here for Temple Beth Sholom.
Your unwavering support keeps our spiritual home vibrant, dynamic and viable. With this in mind, I would like to share our 2020 donation list. So please take a look at the attachment. We very much appreciate your commitment to TBS throughout this difficult time.
As alway, we will carry on and move forward.
Again, thank you for “STICKING WITH TBS”!
Chag Pesach Sameach,
Lauren Isaacs Schimko
